ABOUT ME

Hey there, I’m Ryan Megaffin.

I am a multimedia designer specializing in motion graphics, and video production, with a keen interest in exploring the nuances of branding. In my spare time I continue to learn new After Effects tricks and I love to bring virtual scenes to life in Blender.

Beyond pixels and keyframes, you’ll usually find me putting a few hundred hours into Baulder’s Gate 3 or on the couch watching reality TV with my two dogs, and my wife. When we aren’t hosting Love is Blind Finale Parties, we spend time playing EXIT board games, or asking each other, “What’s for dinner?” on repeat.

RGD In-House Design Awards

I’m so happy to say that the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) approached my friends, Linden Laserna, Melanie Carter, RGD and myself to develop the branding for the 2024 In-House Design Awards Campaign.

The three of us researched, designed and animated the current graphic treatment for this amazing opportunity.

    botIBI 2.0 Functions

    Enter botIBI, IBI’s very own brand persona – an industry-first for the AEC sector. Working with the Director of Brand, I created the two location graphics, and animated botIBI’s emotions, and all the motion graphics.

    Meet CurbIQ

    I worked closely with CurbIQ’s Co-Creator and Product Director, Peter Richards, to develop a master video the team could use for all business development needs. I assisted with the script, developed the storyboard, hired a voice-over talent, shot the footage, created and animated the motion graphics, curated the stock footage, colour-balanced the video, and levelled the audio.

    Woven - A Single-Solution Provider for Broadband Services

    For this project, I worked in tandem with Melanie Carter, a graphic designer on the brand team to develop the graphic style. I then created a storyboard, assisted with a script, directed a voice-over talent, was the main contact for the Woven team. I then animated the motion graphics and completed the video with music and some audio balancing.

    IBI Group's Modular Marketing System

    For this video I worked alongside the Master Brand Senior Graphic Designer, Linden Laserna, to animate a high-impact introduction to the Modular Marketing System (MMS). This video was included in the first internal communication and was used to get staff invested in the release of the project.

    The Way We Work - IBI Group’s Hybrid Work Model

    I worked with both the COO and the Director of Brand to produce this video for an internal e-blast for all staff. I worked with the graphic designer who created the still campaign to bring the same style to motion. I then assisted a copywriter on a script, worked with a voice-over talent, and finally, compiled stock footage and created motion graphics to complete the story.

    Untitled Teaser

    I was lucky enough to attend the public announcement of Untitled. My job was to travel to the location, shoot footage, and edit a sting to be used that same day on social media. Using the skills I brought with me from TSN I was comfortable editing a high-energy video to music in a short amount of time.

    The Red Line - A Catalyst For Change

    After creating a storyboard, I worked alongside a copywriter to develop interview questions and answer guidelines. I then searched for and hired a local film crew. Using the detailed storyboard and shot list I provided, the on-the-ground team was able to conduct interviews and film enough b-roll to produce two videos.

    TSN (Bell Media) Demo Reel - 2018

    I worked at TSN as a video editor for Sportcentre and other TSN programs. This is a collection of nationally broadcasted projects I worked on, from the historic Bautista bat flip, to the US Open specialty show.
